The statistics aim to illustrate sickness absence during a sick pay period, which is the period when employers pay sick pay if an employee is absent from work due to sickness. Together with the statistics that are produced from the social insurance system, the survey helps to give a picture of the total development of sickness absence. The statistics are mainly used by the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, Ministry of Finance and the Swedish Social Insurance Agency.
